ToggleSuzano tests the first high-capacity electric truck in Brazil
Suzano, the world’s largest producer of paper pulp, is partnering with VIX Logística to launch trials of the first high-capacity electric truck in Brazil. This vehicle, named “Atlas,” will be capable of towing up to 120 tons. These trials are taking place at the Aracruz site in the state of Espírito Santo.
Reduction of CO2 emissions
The “Atlas” truck, developed by VIX, has the potential to save up to 8,300 liters of diesel per month and reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 21 tons. Suzano aims to reduce emissions by 20% on the route between the factory and Portocel, a key export point.
Sustainability goals
This initiative aligns with Suzano’s commitments to a sustainable future, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The deployment of the “Atlas” truck will contribute to Suzano’s goal of eliminating 40 million tons of CO2 by 2025, which is equivalent to the emissions of São Paulo over two years.
Advanced technology of the “Atlas” truck
Built on a Mercedes-Benz Axor 3344 chassis, the “Atlas” truck uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, making it a much more sustainable alternative. Its capacity of 120 tons represents a significant improvement over traditional solutions of around 40 tons (including truck and load weight).
Pilot program and future implementations
The tests of the “Atlas” truck began in May. Suzano will closely monitor the operational performance of the vehicle during the first months of trials, with a view to broader deployment in other operations of the company.
Strategic partnership with VIX Logística
According to Beatriz Nalevaiko Venturini, head of operational excellence at Suzano, this strategic collaboration represents a major advance in integrating clean and efficient technologies at all levels of the company: “This partnership is a crucial step in our efforts to adopt more sustainable transport solutions.”
Innovation culture at VIX Logística
Elias Alves, director of VIX, emphasizes that the adoption of efficient and sustainable technologies is a major trend in the market: “Having a culture of innovation within the company allows us to test creative and bold solutions.”
