Elmy transforms a dump and a polluted site into solar power plants

Transformation faite par Elmy

The energy company elmy confirms its commitment to renewable energies. It has recently secured two new photovoltaic power plant projects. These installations of 1 MWc each will be located on degraded sites. This choice helps to limit their impact on the environment. The electricity produced will power more than 1,100 inhabitants. The project also complies with a charter for responsible development.

Repurposing polluted land to produce green energy

Elmy is steadily progressing on its roadmap for sustainable energy transition. The company announces the securing of two projects for ground-mounted photovoltaic power plants, each with a capacity of 1 MWc, located on degraded land in Aubigny-sur-Nère (Cher) and Blye (Jura). A deliberate choice, aligned with its strategy: to primarily utilize land that is less exploitable or already impacted by past activities, rather than agricultural or natural land.

In Aubigny-sur-Nère, the panels will be installed on a private plot affected by historic hydrocarbon pollution. In Blye, it is an old municipal dump that will be rehabilitated to host the installations. These projects thus combine green electricity production and the revitalization of fallow land.

A production equivalent to 1,100 inhabitants powered each year

The commissioning of the two plants is scheduled for March 2027, following the start of construction in autumn 2026. Together, they will produce 2,535 MWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of more than 1,100 inhabitants. The energy generated will be fully injected into the grid. Environmental studies are already underway, a prerequisite in elmy’s responsible development policy. The company aims to demonstrate that it is possible to combine energy performance, respect for the territory, and land sobriety.

A dynamic supported by participatory funding and a responsible charter

These two projects enrich an already well-stocked portfolio. Elmy currently has 30 MWc of photovoltaic projects under development. The majority of these installations are situated on roofs or on agricultural and industrial wastelands, in compliance with the charter adopted by the energy company, which excludes projects on undisturbed natural land.

This dynamic is also part of a recent participatory fundraising campaign conducted with the Enerfip platform. An operation aimed at supporting 17 solar projects, including 14 on rooftops, and involving citizens and local authorities in the energy transition. This model, which combines local involvement, ecological pragmatism, and industrial ambition, reflects the DNA of elmy.
